Gordon E. Groover |
Gordon Groover joined the faculty in 1983. His work focuses on development of farm-level decision aids, farm planning, computer application to agriculture, and livestock management systems. Gordon devotes a major portion of his time to coordinating educational programs with the 6 area extension farm business management agents across the state and serves as the extension project leader for the department. He works with a multidisciplinary team to develop software for pasture, beef, and dairy grazing simulation. He leads the Virginia's Use Value Assessment Program to determine the use values for agricultural and horticultural land in 93 counties and cities, In 1996, along with other extension workers, he received the Southern Agricultural Economics Association Distinguished Professional Contribution award for a multi-state extension educational program to teach farmers computerized records and management.
Gordon grew up near the headwaters of the Chickahominy River in Henrico County, Virginia. He was employed as an extension agent farm management in Virginia from 1979 until joining the faculty in 1983.
