Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics Undergraduate Advisors

Faculty work with students individually in planning their academic programs, getting involved in extracurricular activities, and in locating career opportunities and job placement. Six faculty are involved. A faculty member works with an incoming freshman class and stays with that class until lit graduates. Office locations, telephone numbers, and e-mail addresses are shown below. An "open door policy" invites students to come in whenever they need advice. We adjust our schedule to fit the student's needs.

We are proud of our advising program. The department has been recognized as an Exemplary Department in the University for Excellence in Advising, and Dr. Dixie Watts Reaves received the annual Alumni Association Award as the outstanding advisor in the University. Dr. Ruth Lytton received the the Virginia Tech Award for Excellence in Career Advising and the college Excellence in Undergraduate Student Advising Award. Students find a home in our relatively small programs and seniors, in exit interviews, are very complimentary of the department's advising program.
