ANNOUNCEMENT AND CALL FOR PAPERS
THEME:
IPM: A Strategic Tool for Agricultural Development in Sub-Saharan Africa
CONVENERS:
Participants are advised to arrange for their own sponsorship, although it is anticipated that the conference sponsors will be able to at least partially support some participants. Conference registration fee is US$ 100.00. Accommodation arrangements will be handled by the Local Organizing committee and each participant is expected to pay US$ 70/day to cater for full board lodging. Local participants will be allowed to pay in local currency (Shillings) equivalent.
VENUE AND DATES:
The Conference will be held 8 – 12 September 2002. The conference venue will be Hotel Equatoria, (P. O. Box 7503 Kampala, Uganda, Tel: 256 41 250780/9, Fax: 256 41 250146, Telex: 256 41 61224). Hotel Equatoria accepts Master Card, Visa, American Express, and Dinners Club credit cards. The email address for the hotel is: equator@starcom.co.ug, or equatoria@imperialhotels.co.ug. All delegates arriving at Entebbe International Airport will be met and transported to the Conference venue and their respective hotels. For those arriving by airline please send your name and your itinerary to: acss@starcom.co.ug, or taylord@vt.edu. If you staying at the Hotel Equatoria, please let us know where you will be staying.

SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS AND PAPERS:
All papers to be presented are to be submitted prior to the Conference. The papers will be grouped under the following sub-themes:
IPM technology development and farmer participatory approaches
Economic evaluation of IPM practices including case studies
Role of indigenous knowledge in IPM
IPM post harvest strategies
A book of abstracts will be prepared and compiled prior to the Conference. Therefore, abstracts of all papers (Oral and Poster) should be submitted to the African Crop Science Journal Secretariat, Faculty of Agriculture, Makerere University (P.O. Box 7062, Kampala, Uganda; email: acss@starcom.co.ug) not latter than 15th July 2002. Full papers to be submitted at least one month before the conference must adhere to the format () of the African Crop Science Journal. Both abstracts and full papers may be submitted by email or post. The language for the Conference will be English therefore all submissions should be in English and abstracts should be limited to a maximum of 250 words. Papers that are acceptable for publication will be published in a special issue of the African Crop Science Journal.
